Three differences that matter.

  1. If you upload a client file in ChatGPT, the whole document goes to OpenAI, with every name and every number. Through PrivaSearch, ChatGPT only gets released passages with pseudonyms.
  2. The model is the same. You give up nothing on the analysis: the latest model of ChatGPT does the thinking, on text from which the personal data has already been removed.
  3. A business subscription arranges the data processing agreement with OpenAI. It does not arrange the AI policy, the DPIA and the AI training for your employees; those are in PrivaSearch.

What the AI model gets to see Only passages in which names, addresses, numbers and other personal data have been replaced by pseudonyms, and only after a person has approved the privacy review. The link to the original stays in a vault and does not go along. Everything you type and upload: the complete client file, with the personal data in it.

The subscription itself

What a subscription with OpenAI arranges itself.

ChatGPT Business is the subscription you take out yourself as a smaller firm; according to OpenAI, a workspace requires at least two seats. For Business, Enterprise and the API, OpenAI says data is not used to train models by default. A data processing agreement does not come automatically: you request it with a form.

Administrators of a Business workspace can view, export and delete users' conversations. Tell your employees in advance.

Two things Business does not arrange. OpenAI mentions storage in Europe for new Enterprise and Edu customers and for eligible API customers; Business is not listed. And whether administrators can set the retention period themselves is not clear-cut on OpenAI's page. Ask.

Even with Enterprise, with storage in Europe, OpenAI itself says what falls outside it: account details, billing details and metadata, and steps such as extracting a PDF can take place outside the region.

With Business, the owner of the workspace sets up sign-in with the company account (SSO); that is only possible once a domain has been verified. Creating and updating users automatically from your own user directory is only possible with Enterprise. A deleted conversation is out of view immediately and, according to OpenAI, erased within thirty days, unless the law or security requires keeping it longer.

What none of these subscriptions changes: whoever uploads a client file sends every name and every number along. With PrivaSearch you connect ChatGPT Business to your client files instead of uploading them. A personal ChatGPT account cannot do that: it has no connectors of its own.
