PrivaSearch or Loes?

Loes is a Dutch AI chat from Groningen, built on open models that the company fine-tunes itself and hosts in the EU. Likeable and close to home. For the heavy analysis work in client files, though, you fall behind the latest models of Anthropic, OpenAI and Mistral.

PrivaSearch

Your own client files, safely searchable from the AI assistant you already use.

€175 a month for the whole firm, up to 10 employees

Loes

A Dutch AI chat on its own servers, with open models.

In short

Three differences that matter.

  1. Loes runs on open models that the company hosts itself. PrivaSearch lets you work with the latest model of Claude, ChatGPT Business or Mistral Vibe.
  2. Open models you can host yourself are smaller than the heaviest models of the big labs and follow them later. Now that every new model analyses noticeably better, that is a gap that grows.
  3. With Loes you enter the document as it is. PrivaSearch first replaces the personal data and has a person release it.

Side by side

Topic PrivaSearch Loes
What the AI model gets to see Only passages in which names, addresses, numbers and other personal data have been replaced by pseudonyms, and only after a person has approved the privacy review. The link to the original stays in a vault and does not go along. What you type and upload, as it is. The site mentions no pseudonymisation beforehand; it does say that conversations are never used for training.
The GDPR Designed for the GDPR: less data to the model, a mandatory review, a log of every action, plus the AI policy, the DPIA starter document and the entry for your record of processing activities. Loes describes itself as designed for the GDPR, with processing in the EU and a data processing agreement for organisations. You arrange an AI policy, a DPIA and the training of employees yourself.
Hosting EU-sovereign hosting: storage and processing with a European provider. The assistant you connect may be American; it only receives the pseudonymised passages. Its own servers in the EU.
The models The latest model from Claude, ChatGPT Business or Mistral Vibe. You choose the assistant and the model; when a new model comes out, you simply use it. Open models that Loes fine-tunes itself, such as Qwen and EuroLLM; the heavier variant runs on DeepSeek and Kimi. According to Loes, the model behind it can change from week to week.
What's included Search in your client files, the privacy review, the AI policy, the DPIA, the AI training for every employee, the audit log and the connection with your assistant. Chat, image generation, an API and a Loes of your own for organisations.
The price €175 a month up to 10 employees, €350 up to 25. Per organisation, not per user; excl. VAT and the subscription to your assistant. Free with a limit and €18 a month for Pro. A Loes of your own for organisations has a fixed monthly amount on request.

To be fair

Where Loes is stronger.

  • Everything runs on its own servers in the EU, without an external model provider.
  • A free version to try it.
  • Open: the fine-tuned models are public.
  • Made for Dutch.

And the other way round

When PrivaSearch is the better fit.

  • You want the analysis of the best model, not of a smaller open model.
  • Your client files contain personal data that a model may not see unedited.
  • You want the paperwork for the GDPR and the AI Act included.
  • You want a person to release a document before it is searchable.

What's in PrivaSearch

Seven components, one subscription.

No separate packages and no extra charge per component. See the pricing.

  1. Search in your own client files Ask questions about your documents, with a reference to the source for every answer.
  2. Pseudonymise before the model Personal data is detected and replaced before any text goes to an AI model.
  3. Mandatory privacy review Nothing is searchable until a person has checked and released the document.
  4. AI policy, DPIA and record of processing activities Starter documents based on your own setup, for your lawyer or DPO to review.
  5. AI training for every employee The AI literacy from the AI Act, with an overview per person.
  6. Audit log and access management Every action recorded, with roles per project and mandatory two-step verification.
  7. Connection with your AI assistant Search from your assistant through MCP, within the same permissions and project boundaries.

The latest models

You work with the best model there is.

PrivaSearch supplies the passages; the thinking is done by the model you choose in your assistant. A platform that hosts open models itself works with smaller models that arrive later. A platform that chooses for you does not always choose the most powerful one.
